10 Flare Jeans Teens and Moms Love—From $28

Much to my teens’ amusement, I’m still a bit obsessed with Kendrick Lamar sporting a millennial-style favorite during his Superbowl half-time show: flare jeans. While jamming to his songs and perfecting my dance moves, I’ve also been dreaming of finding the perfect bootcut and flare jeans for my own closet. Unfortunately, his look costs $1,200, but still, I refuse to give up on my search. 

With the help of my teens, I found 10 bootcut and flare jeans from Spanx, American Eagle, Levi’s, NYDJ, and more. If you’re ready to ditch your regular mom jeans like I am, these flare jeans and bootcut styles come in sizes 00 to 28W plus and start at just $28.

Koinshha Womens High Waisted Flare Jeans 

As someone with short legs, I have a hard time finding jeans, but flared jeans? Forget it. I took a chance on these high-waisted flare jeans from Amazon, and luckily, that chance paid off. Every time I wear these jeans, I get compliments, including from my much more fashionable sisters. Plus, they’re very comfortable—I recently wore them for 10 hours at a volleyball tournament.

These flare jeans have the right amount of stretch and fit, so they’re flattering, even on a short frame (I’m 5’4″, for reference). They’re higher-wasted than they appear in the Amazon photos, which I find personally helpful. My favorite feature is that they come in short sizes that are actually short, but there are also long options for taller moms. Flare and bootcut jeans risk dragging on the ground, so the right length is imperative. 

Levi’s Women’s Ribcage Bell Bottom Jeans

Denim from the classic Levi’s brand meets bell bottoms with this high-waisted style. These Levi flare jeans have a 12-inch rise, which helps define the waist and lengthen the legs. The jeans are made with a blend of cotton, polyester, and elastane, giving them stretch for a bell bottom looseness and a flattering fit everywhere else. They come in sizes 24-32 but don’t come in short or long sizes.

“This is my second pair of these jeans and they’re wonderful,” gushed one Amazon shopper. “These are the 32-inch length. I’m 5’4” with long legs, so the length is perfect for me with sneakers or low heels.” While the jeans have a “little stretch in them,” the shopper adds these aren’t a great pick if you prefer structured denim.

Levi Strauss Signature Gold Women’s Totally Shaping Flare Jean

For under $30, Levi also offers a shaping flare jean in standard and plus sizes and short, regular, and long lengths. These Amazon Choice jeans have a 4.2-star rating and are made with a blend of cotton, polyester, and elastane, so they have plenty of stretch and comfort. The waistband of these jeans looks super comfortable and includes a panel for extra support.

“There’s no digging into my belly when I sit or bend,” shares one Amazon shopper, who is 5’8” and ordered a size 20 to try. “My butt looks extra fabulous in them. The flare is classic 90s flare!!” The only complaint the reviewer has is the size of the front pockets, which are “short” but “not a deal breaker.”

SpanxShape EveryWear Flare Jeans

These are more than I’d normally like to spend on jeans, but for the chance to combine jeans and Spanx leggings, take my money. Available in petite, regular, and tall lengths, these Spanx flare jeans also come in sizes XS through 3X, so there’s something for every body type. 

The jeans have built-in Spanx near the waist area and are 10/10 in comfort, thanks to the material’s stretch and flex. I love that they’re pull-on (no zippers to mess with), but they still feature belt loops if you want to dress them up.  

AE Next Level Low-Rise Kick Bootcut Jean

Your high school self is calling, and they want their American Eagle bootcut jeans back. Even the brand itself isn’t hiding the nostalgia, highlighting this denim’s “Y2K” look with a long length, low rise, and medium-structured fit. Although the jeans are “long and lean,” they come in short and even extra-short sizes.

These jeans have an average 4.7-star rating on the AE website. Some shoppers call them the “best jeans ever,” and others praise their ideal mix of structure and stretch. 

NYDJ Blake Slim Flared Jeans

A personal brand favorite of Parents‘ editors, NYDJ jeans have an understated flare shape that complements more streamlined looks. The jeans also feature a support and shaping panel and are rated as “extremely stretchy.” They are available in sizes 00-18, including regular and petite lengths, and four denim colors, including a dark rinse for a dressier look and light colors for more casual outfits. Note: The brand says these run big, so you might want to size down. 

NYDJ Barbara Bootcut Jeans

The NYDJ Barbara Bootcut Jeans are available in two different denim colors. They are size-inclusive, 00 to 28W, with petite and regular lengths. They’re slightly less stretchy than the NYDJ Blake Flare Jeans, providing a more structured look. 

“The bootcut looks best with higher heels, clogs, or boots,” said one shopper. “The color is a winner: dark with no contrasting stitching.” They also said these are “comfortable and flattering” and “will carry you to work, dinner out, and a party.”

WallFlower Mid-Rise Bootcut Jeans 

These WallFlower bootcut jeans have over 38,000 five-star ratings on Amazon. They feature a no-gap waistband, which, I have to admit, looks really comfortable. I love the double-button closure in the front and some styles’ back pockets, adding an extra stylish touch. These jeans are available in standard or plus sizes and short, regular, or, long lengths. 

“They’re super comfortable and flattering,” shared one mom, adding that her oldest son even complimented the jeans.

Ariat Women’s Ultra Stretch Perfect Rise Katie Flare Jean

We live in a rural area, so I know that Ariat is a brand well-known for its flare jeans because they’re authentically country. Many horseback riding enthusiasts count on Ariat jeans to provide durable, quality jeans to accommodate cowboy boots for riding—hence, the signature flare.

Even if you’re not out wrangling horses, these flare jeans feature a fashion-forward design and will last. Sizing comes in short and long lengths, plus and standard sizes, and four different color options. You could even choose a style with prominent rear stitching to really stand out in the crowd. 

Wrangler Women’s Retro Mae Rise Stretch Boot Cut Jeans

These Wrangler retro jeans feature a timeless look authentic to the brand’s original style from the 1940s. The bootcut style is flattering, and there are 12 different color wash options. You can customize your fit by choosing your waist circumference and inseam length. Depending on which color you choose, the rear pockets will have very prominent “W” stitching (the lighter colors are less visible if that’s not your thing). 

According to one shopper looking for a “good pair of bootcut jeans,” they decided to try these Wrangler jeans and later bought two more. “They are so durable, fit super well and they’re really nice looking that I wear them out into the world and not just on the farm,” they said. “100000% will buy again!”
